2009 Sooke Fishing season coming soon!

Holidays are over and we are looking forward to another great season of fishing here in Sooke and Port Renfrew.

Fishing in Sooke is great at this time with lots of feeder Chinook around. Most that we are getting are in front of Sooke Harbour House in about 140 feet. Bounce bottom with a purple haze squirt behind a purple haze flasher or Red Gold Hot spot with a gold coyote spoon. These fish are of quality size with most being around 8 to 10 lbs. Of course you get a few in the teens, but not every day. Lots of these fish are hatchery fish which is great.

New Derby to be held in Sooke on Sept 3 4 5 6 fishing 4 5. This is a huge derby with $175,000 up for grabs. You can check it out at www.salmonclassic.ca

We are looking forward to fishing this derby, we have entered a team call "Team Hindsight". The boat booked out for the derby the first day it opened for tickets. But if you get hold of me I do have two boats with great skippers (available as of Jan 23). The all-inclusive price of $8,000 includes the cost of boats and guides, accommodations at Sooke Harbour Marina Resort, breakfast, lunch, and round-up dinner at Sooke Harbour House. This can be for up to four anglers fishing 4 rods.
